Religious visions and apparitions form some of the most universal and striking stories and myths. The desire for breakthrough and grasp of bliss through direct experiences has given way to incredibly imaginative visual and intellectual descriptions of sights of gods in both blissful and hellish states. A Greater Bliss draws upon these stories and writings to create a world of sounds that seeks to mimic the various facets of these myths, from the heaviest and most desperate to the blissful and dreamlike.

The album brought together an international collaboration of musicians during its development time. Portuguese composer and project lead Pedro Pimentel on electronics, synths and various traditional instruments of European and Middle Eastern origin, American saxophonist Travis Laplante, Norwegian cellist Amund Ulvestad also on voice, Portuguese percussionist Luis Neto and Georgian trumpeter George Shamanauri (Phonotek).

The resulting album breaks apart and merges together a diverse amount of genres and musical backgrounds in wide swelling motions and dreamlike musical fragments in both free-form and mantra-like compositions, crashing acoustic instrumentation with tape fragments and digital spectral synthesis. Skrika presents us his first album on Cryo Chamber, a tour de force of cinematic sound design and dark brooding soundscapes.

Fifth Nature is the first of a series of albums set in the far distant future. Over centuries, failed technological attempts to restore balance to the Earth have left it blackened and its ecosystems fragile. Its population is divided between the Lemmites who think that further synthetic biological intervention is the answer, and the Atom Priesthood who worship the purity of nature.

As storms rage around her, Cerria, a synbio necromancer communes with spirits to foretell Earth’s fate. Meanwhile, the high priest Atom-Yn sings of the blood moon tetrad and the end of days.

Gradually the vast network of machines that purify the atmosphere and enable life to continue on Earth grind to a halt. Desolation grips both Cerria and Atom-Yn as they try to save their followers. What ensues is the seventh extinction event, one in which both human and all remaining life comes under threat. Unable to survive on Earth any longer, Cerria and Atom-Yn reconcile and with a few brave souls take flight into the further most reaches of space seeking new planets to inhabit.

God Body Disconnect returns with a deeply personal album that takes us on a journey through the emotional landscapes of grief and mortality.

“God Body Disconnect has always served as my outlet for personal introspection. It’s a place where I can uncover my deepest emotions and face the inner demons I’ve been too afraid to confront in my life. I’ve often used my own recorded voice in the music to help guide both myself and listeners through these difficult inner workings. From the weary and cryptic words on Dredge Portals and Sleepers Fate, to the grief-stricken monologue on The Mist Between Mirrors, I’ve come to rely on their importance to the music. But last year when I became sick again, and had death sitting on my shoulders, something changed in me. I found that I couldn’t comfortably channel these feelings from behind a microphone. Maybe it was all a bitter reminder of the hospitals, or the pain of watching my body fail. But I had to face the real possibility of my end, and then somehow find a way to make peace with that. I’ve always strived to be honest with my music, and this album is my attempt to tell that truth. I no longer need to hide from pain. Beta Pictoris is the fifth album that Martin Stürtzer and Christian Stritzel recorded as Sphäre Sechs. They pulled off an improvisational online concert played from two cities and gathered material in preparation for this event. Their approach to recording music only during improvised studio sessions with a large set of analog instruments leads to this space ambient transmission.

The timbre of this album is inspired by the Exoplanet Beta Pictoris. It is one of the first Exoplanets that were discovered by humans. Its position was assumed by analyzing the shift in the spectrum of its sun and later visually confirmed by a European observatory.
