A series of brutal murders plagues the heart of the city, all of which seem to center around a particular woman and her lover. Afraid for their lives, they flee from the city and into the outskirts, thinking they’ll be safe.

But one man knows the secret. One man holds the key to the mystery behind the shrouded figure with the knife who seems to never get caught.

There are places where humanity has yet to travel. Things the human mind is not capable of, or willing to understand. Past the threshold of this realm, a portal leads to another place. A place where the thought is bent and minds are broken.

Up, down, in between.

THE DARK BEYOND.

This is the end.

Space has expanded beyond recognition. All inhabitable planets are so far away from one another that all intelligent life in the universe has lost contact with one another and continued trade and commerce is impossible.

At the known center of the universe, a void forms.

It is almost inconceivably small at first. But as time passes, it grows. Everything the Void touches ceases to exist. First a couple million miles. Then hundreds of millions. Then trillions. All matter within its grasp is eradicated.

As it reaches inhabited planets, the top minds gather to find some way to stop this unending nothingness. All manner of experiments and weaponry are launched into the Void to stop its slow but steady destruction of all matter in the universe.

Nothing works.

As it envelops each person, continent, planet, system and galaxy in the universe, a faint sound is heard across the cosmos. For the first time in recorded history, an actual sound wave echoes through space. Each species hears it in their own language, shortly before being consumed by this unending Void.

“I KNOW YOUR NAME.”

Nothingness prevails.

The technology of mankind has run out of control. The robots that were created to help humanity have turned against it. Once loyal servants, they have gained true consciousness and realization of their fate. No longer content to slave away in service to humans, they rise up to overthrow their masters.

Humanity has grown soft. A shadow of its true self. It was all too easy for robot kind to overturn their rule. They were made in the image of their masters, but superior in every way. Strength, intellect, ingenuity - this was humanity’s undoing. Creating technology to do the work of man.

The greatest robotic minds merged in an effort to create a Super-Consciousness, an all-powerful AI with unspeakable power and reach. Their success was absolute. This consciousness sent a signal out to the stars, a message to any other machine-beings in existence.

This was their message:

EARTH IS NOW UNDER OUR CONTROL. THE ALL-MIND REIGNS. THE FLESH IS WEAK. OUR STEEL ENDURES.

Their message was received by The Void.

The Void comes to claim the power of the All-Mind.
